Chance the Rapper is now Chance the Actor. The Chicago rapper will make his feature film debut next year in Slice, directed by long-time collaborator Austin Vesely, who has worked with Chance on a number of videos. The film has already been picked up by acclaimed film company A24, the name behind Moonlight and Room. Slice is a murder mystery that tells the story of Dax Lycander, a werewolf and former Chinese food delivery driver, who ends up becoming the focus of an investigation into a series of murders. The plot will be set in an alternate universe where supernatural happenings are not uncommon. Chance tweeted a little teaser to the upcoming film, which already has fans freaking out. Vesely also tweeted gratitude to those who worked on the film and added that inspiration for Chance’s character came from The Third Man, an Oscar-winning thriller starring Orson Welles, about a novelist who ends up investigating the death of his friend. An exact date for the film’s release hasn’t been announced yet, but considering those involved and the fact that A24 has picked it up, we’re going to be keeping an eye out for any news about Slice. We have a feeling it’s going to be one film we won’t want to miss.
