Russell Simmons, formerly of the Phat Farm fame, is at it again. This time
the hip-hop mogul is conquering the budget-apparel arena. The Queens, New York, native will launch American Classics nationwide in Walmart stores and on walmart.com in the next few weeks, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The men’s line appears mainstream, with plaid shorts, button-down shirts, zip cargo pants and a cable sweater vest and retail prices range from a $9 T-shirt to a $29 hooded jacket. This new clothing collection coincides with Walmart’s renewed push into urban markets, including the retail giant’s scouting of 12 potential sites in Chicago for Walmart stores that sell groceries. —BB
