Whether it’s an “Alright now, Brother,” “Stay up, my G,” or a simple yet loaded head nod, we’ve all taken note of the distinct way the Black men in our lives greet each other.
#BlackGirlMagic is the hashtag that bonds Black women together everywhere, but thanks to Howard University professor Dr. Greg Carr, Black men now have a hashtag of their own.
It all started Saturday with one tweet where @AfricanaCarr shares an all too familiar moment with a fellow Black man in the grocery store.
Passed a Black man in the grocery store this morning:
— Greg Carr (@AfricanaCarr) February 19, 2016
“What’s up, Bruh?”
“I’m here, baby.”
“No doubt.”
There it is. #BlackMenGreetingsAs simple as the moment was, it’s something that Black men can relate to and Black women have seen our fathers, uncles, brothers and others do. Much to our delight, men from all over chimed in on the greeting moments they’ve shared with each other. The collection of hilarious, spot-on #BlackMenGreetings made our weekend.
