The African-American Film Festival Releasing Movement (AFFRM) founder Ava DuVernay and various female filmmakers, from Julie Dash to Sundance 2014 newcomer Lena Waithe, will support AFFRM today by tweeting with fans and raising awareness for their new membership “Rebel” program.
AFFRM is a collective of film artists and advocates who want to see more diversity on film.
The organziation’s goal is to enlist 500 rebels by 2014. They will host a Rebel-A-Thon exclusively on Twitter featuring filmmaker Q&A’s and DVD giveaways.
The event will take place from 11am-8pm ET today. Use the hashtag #AFFRMREBELS to join in on the conversation and follow the movement at @AFFRM on Twitter.
