The murder conviction of former Black Panther, civil rights activist and journalist Mumia Abu-Jamal will stand, as the Supreme Court decided not to offer a new trial, according to the Associated Press. Abu-Jamal was convicted to death for killing a cop who shot him in 1981. Courts in Philadelphia overturned his death sentence, but not the conviction. Hundreds have rallied for his release around the world, citing the country’s courts as racists. – CJ
