Maintaining a healthy relationship with your former spouse for the sake of your children after a divorce can often be difficult, but one couple is looking to help ease the transition. I’m Scared of Love Because I Saw My Parents’ Marriage Fail New Jersey divorcees Ken and Wanda Bass were married for 15 years before calling it quits back in 2002, but like many in their situation, they struggled with finding a way to effectively communicate for the sake of co-parenting their two sons. The two were eventually able to work through the communication issues and come together to be the best parents they could be to their children, but when they went in search of appropriate greeting cards to give to each other on key holidays, they began to notice a void. Aisha Tyler Breaks Down in Tears Discussing Divorce on ‘The Talk’ Given the unfortunately high divorce rate and significant number of children born to single parents every year, Ken and Wanda soon realized that they were likely not alone in their dilemma. After continuing the search for greeting cards with messages that fit their situation to no avail, the former husband and wife decided to join forces and create their own. Single Black Female: We’re Divorcing, But Our Money Isn’t The result of their new business partnership was the launch of XCards, a line of greeting cards for divorced couples or previously involved pairs looking to maintain amicable relationships with their ex-spouses, former in-laws, or parent of their children. Through the creation of the line, Ken and Wanda say that in addition to strengthening their relationship as co-parents, they’ve been able to inspire their sons by promoting a positive image of families like their own. The XCards start at $2.75 each and are currently available for purchase through the official website HERE. WANT MORE FROM ESSENCE?
