Actor, comedian and social activist Bill Cosby will receive the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor from the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on October 26, according to the Associated Press. Cosby will be lauded for his illustrious career and breaking stereotypes in Hollywood with his TV series “I Spy” and “The Cosby Show.”

In a statement to the press, Cosby noted that his mother would read Twains most famous stories to him as a child.

“I would like to apologize to Mr. Twain for falling asleep hundreds of times, but he should understand that I was only four,” Cosby said.

Cosby was awarded the Kennedy Center Honors in 1998 and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2002. Past honorees include Richard Pryor and Whoopi Goldberg.—WLW
