The late night talk show circuit is about to get an injection of soul.
Hip-hop group The Roots is scheduled to begin as Jimmy Fallon’s house band
this week, according to The Village Voice. Philly’s popular band, also known
as “The Mighty Roots Crew,” is reportedly very excited about sharing the
stage with Fallon, who is taking over for Conan O’Brien, who is replacing Jay Leno.
The band plans to make the 100 mile or so trek several times a week between
the City of Brotherly Love and The Big Apple as some members such as front
man Black Thought still have school-age children in their hometown of
Philadelphia. The Roots do, however, still plan to tour internationally as
they are well-known in such places as New Zealand and Italy.—BB
