Republican Arizona State Senate President Bob Burns recently put his foot in his mouth while speaking before the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry meeting last week. Burns referred to the state’s $4.5 billion budget deficit as a “tar baby,” according to the Phoenix Business Journal. Arizona Democrats have already issued a statement that they’re embarrassed by the Senate president’s use of the ugly racial epithet.—WLW
