Following a very long four years, Marissa Alexander has reached a plea deal in her case.
Back in 2010, Florida resident Marissa Alexander was arrested after firing a gun in the direction of her allegedly abusive husband and his two sons, First Coast News reports.
The terms of the plea deal require Alexander to plead guilty to three counts of aggravated assault in exchange for three years in prison. However, she has already served 1,030 days in jail, which will go toward the three years. If she had been found guilty, she would have served up to 60 years in prison.
She will serve 65 more days in Duval County Jail, and is to be released on January 27, 2015.
