A Smithsonian Institution jury announced on Tuesday that a team led by Black British architect David Adjaye and North Carolina’s Freelon Group will design the new Black history museum on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., according to the Associated Press. The museum will be named the National Museum of African-American History and Culture. Construction is set to start in 2012, with a budget estimated at $500 million. The final display will be completed in 2015. —JW
