When ABC News “Nightline” ran a story about single Black women having difficulty finding a mate people paid attention. A video clip from the “Nightline” segment was uploaded to youtube and received over 20,000 hits in a day, according to the Examiner.
According to ABC, 42 percent of Black women have never been married, and 70 percent of successful professional Black women remain unmarried. More and more Black women than ever are looking outside of their race to find love and marriage.
In the “Nightline” segment, a reporter sat down with a group of single and successful Black women in the Atlanta area to find out why they think they are still single. And comedian/ love guru Steve Harvey weighed in on why he thinks so many Black women are not making it to the alter. He says we shouldn’t lower our expectations but compromising some of them wouldn’t be a bad idea.
