7 Legit Rules for Dating a Black Millennial Woman

We millennials are a little offbeat when it comes to dating. Sometimes we don’t even call it that–it’s more like we’re just “talking” or it’s just “a thing.” Here are seven surefire rules to date by when you’re young, Black and it’s “complicated.”

It’s what the kids call “making the first move.” Whether you slide in the DMs or meet me out and about, be polite and memorable. You don’t want to be that guy I talk about on Twitter.

 

Be supportive and accept that it’s a partnership not a dictatorship, boo. 

 

I don’t know not a thing about cars or baseball or video games so teach me. But if you take me on a Pokemon Go adventure as a “date,” trust me when I say it’s over.

This isn’t code for Netflix and chill. I actually want to watch a movie—perhaps even go to a movie. Splurge on a ticket…I’m worth it.

Sure I would like for you to be chivalrous and all that good stuff but just know I’ll always come prepared to pay. I have no expectations of you always picking up the tab.

Just listen. My words will do you some good.
