This year was one for the books.
Not only did we see Black women shine in multiple ways — from slaying on the red carpet to creating makeup lines that transformed the industry — they also continued to be the moral compass of America by running for major offices, leading resistance movements and turning out in droves to exercise their right to vote.
Black women in 2017 pushed the boundaries, inspired and made history. From entertainment to activism, Black women made sure their voices and impact were heard worldwide. From Lena Waithe — who became the first Black woman to win an Emmy Award for comedy writing — to Stacey Abrams — who may become the nation’s first Black woman governor — there was no shortage of Black Girl Magic this year.
Black women led the way and we have the receipts to prove it. Check out our video, above.
