There’s no shortage of hair inspiration on YouTube and Instagram, but replicating the cool styles we see is easier said than done. And working professionals with textured hair face the even bigger challenge of finding a look that won’t be considered “inappropriate” for the corporate world.

Step 1: Start with freshly washed and conditioned hair. Leave the hair in its natural state or curl the ends for added definition.
Step 2: Using a rat tail comb, create a horizontal part about three inches above the nape of the neck.
Apply an edge smoother to the hair and brush the bottom section downwards. Use a clip to secure the rest of your strands above the part.
Step 4: Secure the bottom section with a hair tie.
Step 5: Repeat steps 1-4 until you reach the top of the forehead. Remember to smooth each ponytail with a cream or pomade.
Pro-tip: As you move toward the forehead, separate the curls in each ponytail to create more volume and avoid any open spaces in the style.
