Great music plays a major role in having a fun wedding reception for the bride and groom and their guests.

From the song the bride chooses to accompany her down the aisle to the newlyweds’ first dance song, the perfect pick will evoke all of the right emotions for lifelong memories. Popular music streaming service Spotify recently released an analysis of it’s wedding-themed playlists just in time for peak wedding season, which is July through October. Spotify analyzed over 6.7 million wedding-themed playlists, and you’ll never guess which of your favorite songs reigned supreme for wedding picks.

Black Music Month: ESSENCE’s Ultimate Wedding Playlist

According to Spotify some of our classic R&B and Jazz songs are topping the first dance list. Etta James’ “At Last” is the second most popular song for a couple’s first dance, and Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” is still a top choice for a new generation 50 years after it’s release.

For the wedding turn up, Spotify shows that couples love pop-focused tunes like the Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling,” Bruno Mars’ “Marry You”, Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean,” Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love” and Outkast’s “Hey Ya!” to play during the reception.

No wedding playlist is complete without some notable classic jams by the Pointer Sisters, Spice Girls, the Jackson 5, Earth, Wind & Fire  for you and your parent’s nostalgia.

Spotify’s wedding-themed playlists are “most commonly streamed over the third weekend of July,” which means that “this coming weekend is set to be the most popular weekend of the year for weddings worldwide.”

What songs are a must-have for your wedding playlist?
