When Tiana and Ferman met, they both needed more time to grow. They took a five year break and got back together when they were ready for love. The couple tied the knot in a bright and beautiful affair on the waterfront of Washington D.C. Share their love.
She found this lace gown at a bridal boutique in Brooklyn before decided that she wanted another dress. “I walked out and everybody loved it,” the bride says. “Later I felt like I should have felt more emotion and I thought, ‘Maybe i should get another dress.’”
“I actually took Ferman with me to get the second dress,” Tiana confesses. They found this elegant, strapless gown with beaded details at bridal consignment shop, Sabrina Ann.
The new wife recommends that brides-to-be check bridal consignment shops. “Really, I got two dresses for the price of one.”
Tiana’s gorgeous bridal bouquet featured white roses and poppies.
Tiana chose a vintage-inspires short veil for her wedding day. Her hairstylist in Philly swept her hair to the side and her makeup artist at MAC gave her a dramatic, yet natural bridal look.
“From the first time that we met, I knew he was the one,” Tiana says of Ferman.
Tiana loves how chic Black and pink look together. She asked her bridesmaids to choose any neckline from J. Crew’s collection of Black dresses to stand beside her at the altar in.
They added a pop of color to their outfits with open-toe fuchsia shoes.
“I was really calm,” the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority sister says. “I was just nervous about being on time and getting everything done.”
“I Definitely was nervous,” Ferman says. “A lot of people talk about it, but when it really happens, it’s serious.”
Tiana and her ladies look sharp as they head to the waterfront to walk down the aisle.
Tiana’s wedding planner Laura Weatherly of Engaging Affairs made sure the bride’s fuchsia theme followed her all the way down the aisle with tall vases filled with water and orchids.
“I was like, ‘I can’t believe this is happening,’” Tiana tells us of her walk down the aisle. “I was zooming in on Ferman. He looked so handsome.”
“She looked beautiful,” Ferman says. “I was concentrating on other things to try not to get all worked up.”
The couple exchanged traditional vows before slipping their wedding bands on each other’s hands.
“I was really excited to have our first kiss as man and wife,” Tiana says.
Guests couldn’t keep their eyes off of the gorgeous hot pink bouquets at the center of their tables.
“We didn’t have a wedding that was only centered around us,” Ferman tells us. “We made it like a family event.”
“It was a big celebration. That’s what we wanted,” Tiana adds. “We didn’t want it to be stuffy because we’re not like that.”
Tiana and Ferman strutted onto the dancefloor for their first dance to “Your Love is King” by Sade.
Tiana and Ferman’s three-tiered black and white cake — by Fancy Cakes by Leslie — featured two beautiful poppies as an accent.
“I’m looking forward to being a team. Ferman always calls us ‘Team M,’” Tiana laughs.
“We’re going to have a bunch of team players running around here,” Ferman laughs, referring to starting a family.
