“I knew Taquari was the one early on,” admits the bride. “Although we never rushed things and genuinely enjoyed dating, he expressed quite early on that he would marry me. Although initially I thought that was quite a statement to make, and a bit bold, eventually I could not call the notion crazy because I knew it too.”
The bridal dress hunt was a breeze for Nadia. “The Enzoani gown hit and fit in all the right places,” says the bride. “And, the delicate bead work on it was stunning.”
Nadia’s wedding day curls were styled by Tawana Laurent of Ringletts Hair Salon, her lifelong hair stylist, and Kisha Williams of The Make-Up Lab Artistry handled makeup duties for her and her pretty bridesmaids.
Nadia was surrounded by sisterly love on her wedding morning. We love those robes!
“I said yes because there wasn’t a doubt in my mind that this was the man God put in my life to be with,” Nadia shares. “We enjoy each other, we love each other and he makes me laugh and smile every day. He is everything I thought I wanted in a significant other but more!”
“I cried a lot during the proposal,” says Nadia. “No one has ever truly surprised me in that fashion and I was so caught off guard. I was completely overjoyed!”
“My cathedral veil was actually custom made,” says Nadia. “It was a four-tier veil. I’ve always dreamed of a long cathedral veil as a little girl ever since I saw Princess Diana’s wedding.”
“Taquari is the owner of a personality almost bigger than his heart,” says his new wife. “Whether MC’ing an event or simply hanging amongst close friends and family, Taquari is always the source of smiles and laughter. Taquari is definitely a man with a plan, big dreams and ambition that I have rarely ever seen.”
“For our bouquets, I wanted to keep it very clean without much color,” Nadia admits. “Bella Bloom did an excellent job of executing the look I wanted. Their bouquets were made of ivory and cream hydrangeas and cabbage roses.
Nadia and Taquari made time for a romantic “first look” before their ceremony and the sweet moment made for a photo that belongs in a frame.
The look on Taquari’s face says it all! His bride looked absolutely stunning on her big day.
The bridesmaid’s gowns were from the Noir by Lazaro line. “I wanted my maids to look very classic,” says the bride. “As if they were hitting the red carpet at a very formal event.”
Nadia was a vision of beauty on her wedding day. Work it, miss!
Nadia is her father’s only daughter, so he was happy to pick her up for her big ride to the altar.
“Where we would have the ceremony was a no brainer,” says Nadia. “It was the first thing we booked. I was baptized, received first communion, reconciliation and attended that church-school for elementary school so it was always dear to my heart for years. We also attend mass there some Sundays, so we were happy that it was available to host our ceremony and bless our union.”
The smallest members of the couple’s bridal party made their way down the aisle before the bride’s big moment with her dad.
“My father walked me down the aisle and he wouldn’t have had it any other way,” says Nadia.
There’s nothing like the look on a groom’s face the first time he sees his bride coming his way down the aisle. It’s always a classic!
“At the altar, initially I felt full of butterflies I didn’t know if I could even look at him,” says Nadia. “But once the music began playing and I walked, a feeling of ease came over me. When we recited our vows, we smiled and even laughed some of the time. That’s us though. We literally look at each other and just burst into smiled and giggles.”
“We did not write our own vows, we used the church vows,” says Nadia. “We selected both those and every reading of the gospel used in our mass according to those that really spoke to us as couple and things we have prayed about for our future together.”
Taquari plants a perfect pucker on his new wife Nadia. #aww
“I was so happy that day and excited and had been looking forward to it for so long that I was in amazing spirits and pretty cool if I do say so myself,” Nadia shares. “Taquari did not cry, but I could see that after his mother came down the aisle, then his daughter and then me, his heart became very full of emotions.”
“My bride to be is truly my dream girl,” says Nadia. “She has the eyes of a Disney princess and the winning spirit of Miss America. I sometimes laugh to myself because she is everything that I imagined the woman that I would commit to, provide for and establish a friendship with would be.”
At their reception party, the bride and groom had a special sweetheart table waiting for them that was fit for a king and queen.
The newlyweds partied on into their reception to the sounds of the instrumental version of Drake’s “Trophies.”
We love Nadia and Taquari’s style. The couple chose The Gap Band’s “I’m In Love” for their romantic first dance song.
Personalized wedding décor was spread throughout the couple’s wedding reception.
“There was a huge round table with a purple LED light shining directly down on it at our reception, and this is where we chose to put the cake,” describes the bride. “It was truly a wow factor. My florist added candles on top and even under the cake table.”
A custom gobo light really set the mood for romance as guests entered the reception space.
“I love him for the man that he is and how he loves and embraces the woman that I am,” gushes the bride.
“He is ambitious, passionate, focused and a provider,” says Nadia. “He is my perfect balance.”
“I enjoyed every minute of my engagement and being a bride,” says Nadia. “Something about knowing the search for your soul mate is over makes you ecstatic!”
Romantic candles glowed throughout the space adding extra ambiance to the couple’s big moment.
“I definitely didn’t think he’d fall into my life the way he did and I definitely didn’t know he’d be this amazing,” Nadia admits.
Guests partied hard as the deejay spun celebratory jams in honor of the happy couple.
Like a true New Orleans bride could resist! The last 30 minutes of their reception was live music and a second line provided by New Breed Brass Band.
Coolest second line ever? Yeah, we sure think so!
“I love how she personifies everything that’s good and spicy about New Orleans culture,” admits the groom. “And physically, I love her eyes. She’s just like Princess Jasmine.”
