Just two months after they met at a dance club, Joe asked Martha to be his wife. She thought he was kidding, but eighteen days later they tied the knot at a local courthouse. For their fifth wedding anniversary they celebrated with a dream vow renewal ceremony aboard a romantic cruise liner. Share their love!
Martha got a lot of help from family on her big day, especially when it came to hair and makeup. “My mom (shown here) did my hair and my very close friend, actually she’s more like a big sister, Corrine helped me with the final touches for my make-up,” says the bride.
The bride shares an intimate moment with her aunt.
“Being the bride was perfect,” says Martha. “It was all that I dreamed of and more and I felt like a true fashion princess.”
“Unfortunately, the cruise had a lot of rules and we could not bring real flowers on board,” says the bride. “Instead I used Real Touch Roses for my bouquet in pink on pink colors because it’s my favorite. The cruise provided real flowers bouquet for the wedding ceremony set up.”
Martha’s stunning gown was chosen with great care. “The gown was designed by Don O’Neill, who is the Creative Director of THEIA,” she tells us. “It wasn’t difficult at all because he had amazing choices and that made it easy for me to pick from.”
“On my first visit to the boutique, I knew the dress I wanted,” says Martha. “I knew it was the one. My gown was simply in the front but very elegant, with satin featuring an organza floral train.”
Martha’s “something new” was her bridal headpiece, her “something borrowed” was her aunt’s rose gold and pearl bracelet and her “something old” and “blue” were the blue sapphire diamond earrings that were passed on through her family from generation to generation.
“I wanted a statement headpiece, and I knew this was the style that would go beautifully with my gown,” says the bride.
“He is my hero, a loving man and my best friend,” says Martha.
“She is a sensitive woman with a great heart,” says the groom. “She is there for me when I need her and when I’m feeling down she picks me up. In a few words, she’s my better half.”
“My Father walked me down the aisle to ‘The Wedding March’ because it’s what I’ve always wanted,” says the beaming bride. This is an unforgettable moment and I was thankful that God granted me the blessing of having my father alive and by my side for this day,” says Martha. “I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. I will cherish my dad walking me down the aisle forever.”
The captain of the ship performed Martha and Joe’s wedding vow renewal ceremony.
“At the altar, I felt excited and happy,” says Martha. “I couldn’t stop smiling. Plus we were celebrating our 5 year anniversary on this day too. It was so special.”
“Yes we wrote our vows,” says Martha. “I read mined to him and then he improvised from his heart.” Aww!
Twenty four guests joined Martha and Joe on the cruise to witness their special ceremony.
“I was able to see truth in her eyes at the altar, and the continued love that she has for me,” Joe shares.
Joe couldn’t wait to dip his lovley bride. They sealed the deal with a romantic kiss.
Both Martha and Joe cried as their dream wedding celebration was finally realized.
“I had lost hope on true love after my last break up, but then came Joe,” says Martha. “I always feel like he is a blessing.”
There were smiles all around for the bride and groom.
“A cruise wedding was exactly what we wanted and more,” says Martha. “Our plan was perfect and we stuck to having a fun vacation and celebration with our guests.”
The happy couple chose John Legende’s “All Of Me” for their first dance song. A sweet choice for two people so clearly in love.
Martha chose not to have a bridal party, but that didn’t stop her from indulging in a little traditional bridal fun.
Delicious eats were on hand for the couple’s cocktail-style reception.
“My father walked me down the aisle, my Mother waited with my husband at the altar and my little cousin Destynee was our ring girl,” says Martha.
After their vows were renewed, Martha, Joe and their guests couldn’t wait to hit the dance floor.
“I love the way he loves and cares for me,” says Martha of her husband of five years, Joe.
“I know he is my life long partner and he is with me in this for better and for worse,” says Martha. “He makes me smile, he is a nice person and he is very genuine, loyal and honest. Plus, he has the most beautiful heart I’ve ever known or met in a person.”
