Mall Crush
Lenette and Timothy first met in 1994 at a mall in Alabama where they both worked. Lenette was in college at the time and Timothy lived locally. She worked part time at a Things Remembered store where she spent her time making keepsake engravings and copying keys. Timothy worked at a nearby store and he looked forward to seeing her walk by on her lunch break each day. Desperate to get to know her better he started going to her store to have house keys made. Each time he struck up another conversation with Lenette he just couldn’t help but look forward to their next encounter. “Later, after he paid for about fifteen keys, he bought me a little teddy bear, with a red vest from Zales, asking me to have dinner with him,” Lenette recalls. “I told him I did not dine with strangers, but if we could make it lunch in the mall, I would go out with him. He took me to Ruby Tuesday in the mall, and we talked about our goals and interests. We laughed so loudly that we were almost put out. It was the best lunch ever!”
Twice As Nice
Lenette and Timohty dated for five years and then went their separate ways. Eight years later they reunited and this time their love was for keeps. Timothy’s surprise proposal really swept his ladylove off her feet. It was the week of Christmas and they flew to Miami to visit her family. Timothy was acting mighty strange on the plane but Lenette had no idea what he was up to. They went to the Bayside Marketplace in Miami for a Christmas concert with her family. During the show, the singer stopped in the middle of her performance and informed the audience that there was someone in the crowd with a special request. That’s when Timothy walked onto the stage and grabbed the microphone, while Lenette’s sisters whipped out their cameras and started taking pictures. “He told me how much he was in love with me,” she shares. “He talked about sharing his life with me and wanting to be with me forever. Tim then dropped on one knee and the crowd was cheering and whistling as he pulled out this beautiful diamond ring. All I saw was bling! He asked me if I would make him a very happy man and marry him.”
