“I wore 3 dresses,” revealed Sade. “My first was a classic yet regal dress by Peter Lagner that one of my bridesmaids actually found and pulled for me to try on. I had tried about 20 dresses at that point but when I put it on I just new it was the one. My second was a custom dress by Tope FnR in Nigeria, I sent her my vision and she brought it to life. My third dress, was a Vera Wang dress I fell in love with at the boutique but it wasn’t quite “classic” enough for my ceremony, but was perfect for all the dancing and fun to conclude my amazing wedding day.”
“He’s amazing,” said the bride of her groom. “Supportive, loving, honest, driven, and handsome. He’s all the things that any girl would ask for!”
“Being a bride wass everything I dreamed of and more,” said Sade.
“I was so nervous but I wanted to make this moment really special for her,” the groom recalled. “We go on vacation to another country at least once a year and this time we chose Dubai and Abu Dhabi. I had already told the hotel staff that I was planning to propose so everyone at the Champagne bar was ready for our arrival. Lucky enough, while we were enjoying our bottle of champagne that was severed by the bar host in an amazing presentation, we met this great couple who had been married for 20 years. We connected immediately so when Sade left to use the restroom, I let them in on my plans. I have to say; they were almost more excited than me! As soon as I got the courage to go for it and get on one knee, the whole bar turned our way and listened to my words as I proposed to the love of my life. It was a surreal moment that I will never forget and thank goodness she said ‘YES!’ Everyone applauded and the moment was captured by all our new friends in photos and video so we could bring back with us and share the moment with our friends and family here in the States.”
“I was walked down the aisle by my older and younger brother,” the bride revealed. “My father lives in Nigeria and wasn’t able to make it and I wanted my 2 brothers, who I can’t imagine my life without, walk me down the aisle on my special day. It was a beautiful moment and I will remember it forever and ever.”
“Ayo completes me,” said sade. “He is better at the things that I am not and vice versa. We compliment each other and to know and love someone for more than half of your life is something we are both eternally grateful for. He’s my soulmate.
“I don’t love bright colors and I am a huge fan of simple yet elegant,” said the bride of her decor. “That is the mindset I had for my wedding so I kept my decor simple, baby’s breath accented with gold and ecru, that complimented the venue and also highlighted its sheer beauty.”
“She’s my one,” said Ayo. She’s loving, free, hardworking, loyal and a beauty!”
“Since the very first day I met her back in 2001, I knew she was the one for me,” admitted the groom.
“We are childhood sweethearts and met as kids in middle school back in 2001,” said the bride. “For a long time after that, we lost touch. I am more of a free spirit, so I moved to New York to pursue my fashion PR dreams & being the analytical one, he moved to Scotland for his masters before settling in London. But fate brought us back together…and in July 2017, we got married!”
“I have known Ayo was ‘the one’ since we reconnected through Facebook years ago,” Sade shared. “We went on our first date, bowling, and I felt something for him that I had never felt with anyone else.”
We love that the bride and groom were surrounded by such joy on their wedding day.
“Seeing Sade on our wedding day, I just kept thinking about how beautiful she looked,” Ayo admitted.
If you’re going to have a grand time, it might as well look like this!
Here’s to many more years of the groom sweeping the bride off of her feet. Congratulations!
