Rappers and reality stars Remy Ma and Papoose are just a few weeks away from the much anticipated arrival of their first child together, which they’ve lovingly nicknamed “The Golden Child.” Yesterday the happy couple shared photos from their throwback themed baby shower. The shower was themed based on the popular 1978 musical romantic comedy Grease, which starred Olivia Newton John and John Travolta as high school sweethearts in the 50s who were hopelessly in love.

Surrounded by close friends like Lil Kim, Erica Mena and Safaree, and their family, the Mackies arrived to Remy & Pap’s Soda Shoppe Sock Hop fully dressed in 50s-inspired attire and rocking matching smiles. Guests danced to 50s-era doo-wop and rock and roll, played arcade games and, clearly, had the time of their lives.

Remy Ma, who’s 35 weeks pregnant, wore a sparkling pink and blue swing dress complete with a petticoat, designed by Karen Sabag, because the couple is waiting to find out the baby’s sex. (Remy says Sabag made the dress mostly pink because she think she’s having a girl.) Papoose also stuck closely to the film’s vintage vibees, rocking blue jeans, a white V-neck t-shirt and a leather jacket, the signature look Travolta’s character Danny made iconic in the film.

Let’s start with THE DRESS !! The amazing @KarenSabagOfficial has done it AGAIN!! Custom 50’s inspired beauty😍 We wanted to incorporate both pink & blue since we don’t know the gender of #theGoldenChild, but Karen swearsssss it’s a girl so somehow the dress ended up mostly pink😏I loveeeee it, especially the pink, white,& blue petticoat underneath (thank you Mommy Lydia💋) #RemyMa #RemAndPap #MeetTheMackies #BlackLove #RemyMArthaExperience

@remyma this is how we start!!! From red carpets to wedding… from wedding to baby shower… I couldn't be more happy for you mama!!! You give an inspiration of a look you want… I draw it into paper… the inspiration was 1950 … we don't know if your having a boy or girl??? So we decided to do both colors!!! But I believe it's a girl because I need to design some mommy and me for you!!! Therefor I added more pink to our dress… the fabrication I used was metalic pleated Lamé fabric from Italy that happened that I loved the 2 colors together … then we finished it with a bow and a pink glass buckle … you finished it off with the perfect hair … and the sparkly silver shoes!!! Love🎀 Karen Sabag #remyma #1950s #greaserstyle #babyshower #thegoldenchild #baby #babygirlclothes #design #artwork

The couple could not contain their joy and excitement sharing matching sweet captions and photo collages on Instagram. I love you more than words can express or explain,” wrote Remy to her love. “We’ve been through so much and we always make it out…TOGETHER. I’m so excited. I’m so in love. I’m so happy. Thank you for always believing in me, for always putting me first, and for being the best husband EVER. 35 weeks! Just 5 more to go.” Papoose responded by sharing photos and a shout out to his wife, “You never cease to amaze.” Baby Mackie is scheduled to arrive in December. Cheers to the happy couple!
