Shwantel and Jerry, both 25, met while playing on their high school track team. They were the best of friends who then became soul mates and lovers. Last Christmas, Jerry surprised Shawntel with an engagement ring under the tree. See their sweet engagement shoot and share the love!
Shawntel admits to knowing her proposal was coming, but had no clue when. She was thrilled to find a diamond ring gift-wrapped and waiting for her under the tree. They met and fell in love at such an early age — they’d already been together ten years by then! She tells us she was more than ready to become Jerry’s wife.
“Jerry got me a three stone diamond ring,” Shawntel tells us. “It has ten stones along the side that represent the ten years we dated. The three additional large stones represent our past, present and future.”
“His mom and I talk like we’re best friends, and my mother loves him like her son,” says the joyful bride-to-be.
“I think he chose to marry me because he loves me, I don’t settle, I’m ambitious and I’ll be rich one day,” jokes Shawntel.
“When we’re finally husband and wife, I can’t wait to hold his hand and see the wedding band on his left finger,” beams Shawntel.
“I love that my future husband is determined and hardworking,” says Shawntel.
“If you’re spying on us on a Friday night, you’ll probably catch us out and about because Friday is typically date night,” she says.
“Jerry is diligent, goofy and protective,” Shawntel says. The pair plan to tie the knot next month.
“We’re having a cultural fusion wedding,” says Shawntel. “We’re combining traditions of the South, Nigeria and Jamaica. The colors are purple, red, and gold — bold colors reflective of African fabric. We’ll be serving Caribbean food for our cocktail hour, and the reception dinner will be a southern buffet. We’re going to tie it all in with amazing music from all over the world!”
