After seven years of dating his college sweetheart, Percy popped the big question. Now he’s ready to take Kristilyn’s hand in matrimony and spend the rest of his life with his special woman.
One of Kristilyn’s favorite qualities about her man is that he’s extremely dependable. “I have always been able to count on Percy,” she says. “He has never wavered or changed when I needed him the most, he has always been there.”
Whether it’s cooking meals together or trying the newest hole-in-the-wall spot, Kristilyn and Percy enjoy bonding over food. “Percy and I love to eat and cook. We love trying out new cuisines and different foods from different cultures,” she shares. “We also like to cook, so we are always trying out new recipes we find on our favorite cooking shows and adding our own little twists.”
“I chose to marry him because of our chemistry,” says Kristilyn. “We have such a great time together and our love has stood the test of time.”
The lovely pair are all about embracing their differences and learning from them. “We are true opposites, so our personalities balance each other out and we offer each other a different perspective and view,” says the bride-to-be.
Percy says it’s Kristilyn’s smile that really reeled him in. “I fell in love with Kristilyn because of her smile. It’s like a gateway to her soul and her loving heart.”
The sweetest thing Percy has ever done for his lady was whisk her away to Puerto Rico. “After I graduated from Georgetown with my Master’s Degree, Percy planned an amazing trip to celebrate all of my hard work and we just had an awesome time,” says Kristilyn.
Kristilyn still remembers the first time Percy said he loved her. “It was at one of our favorite restaurants—The Sundial. After sharing cocktails and dessert, he whispered those three little words, “I Love you.”
“Some of our earliest dates were spent outside the back gate of Spelman College. We would sit out on our bench for hours to talk and to get away from our dorms,” shares Kristilyn. “It could be 40 degrees outside and you would find us on a bench just chatting away. While others might think it’s weird, it definitely is the place where we learned the most about each other and where our bond initially grew.”
“Percy is the best man for me because he truly makes me a better person,” Kristilyn says. “I honestly, truly believe that God created him just for me.”
Kristilyn says Percy’s made a great impression on her loved ones. “My friends would say that Percy is fun to be around and is an all-around good guy,” she says. “My parents would say that Percy is a comedian and always has everyone laughing, he’s’ down to earth and has a good heart.”
Percy can’t wait to spend the rest of his life with Kristilyn. “With her by my side, I know marriage will be a journey that I would never want to end.”
It’s the simple things Percy and Kristilyn cherish most about their love. “I am looking forward to the small moments in our marriage,” Percy shares. “Date nights on weekday nights, quiet moments walking around our neighborhood, and one day starting our own family.” The happy couple is set to get married this October, in a classic wedding in Atlanta; the city where they first fell in love.
