One evening, Bridgette and Deon, both 28, both attended the same church service for young adults. At the dinner that followed, Deon showed up late and wound up sitting in the only seat that was available — the one right next to Bridgette. His smile immediately impressed her. “We talked like we’d known each other for years,” she said. He was someone special, and now he’s her soon-to-be husband. They’re tying the knot this May. When Deon and Bridgette first met, it didn’t take long for sparks to fly. “He said that he loved my sweet spirit and was drawn to my eyes and smile,” she tells us. “What was interesting was that he said my voice was like a pillow — soft and calming. I thought he meant I was putting him to sleep. We laughed about it and had fun.”
“Deon just drew me in, and I could tell we had great chemistry right off the back,” Bridgette tells us. “I felt drawn to him almost immediately.”
“On our second date, while having a romantic Sunday evening dinner, God whispered in my ear, ‘That is your husband,’” says Bridgette. We can see why she felt so strongly about her decision to journey through life with Deon.
“To be honest, I did not play hard to get,” admits Bridgette. “He passed my dating preliminaries with flying colors. After asking him a few questions, and going out on a few dates, I realized he was everything I wanted and more.”
“I love that my future husband is patient,” says Bridgette. “I can be hard to deal with at times, but he is extremely loving and patient with me always.”
“What I love most about my bride-to-be is that she is an incredibly beautiful woman, who has a heart to give, and she’s really sweet and funny,” Deon tells us. It’s nice to see a man who knows it better to give than to receive. Bridgette, he’s definitely a keeper!
Deon and Bridgette love to travel, walk the mall and see fine art exhibits and theatrical shows. Even a simple dinner and movie night becomes a great date as long as they’re together. “I love acting silly with her,” says Deon. “I make her laugh.”
“I love that Bridgette has a relationship with Jesus Christ,” says Deon. “She loves kids, and I believe she will be a great mother to my future children. I know she loves me with all of her heart, and I know that she is my promise from God.”
Deon’s looking forward to all of the big “firsts” with Bridgette as the two prepare to embark on a new chapter of their lives. “I can’t wait to build a family, live in our first house, grow and travel together and to experience our life as a married couple,” he says. “I just want to wake up next to her every morning.”
“I’m looking forward to creating a peaceful home for us to enjoy and grow together in,” Bridgette shares. “I’m also looking forward to traveling and starting a family in a few years and growing closer to my hubby. I want to be the wife he always dreamed of. “
“Deon is easy to love,” says Bridgette. “He is romantic, affectionate, patient, and positive, and the sweetest man I have ever met. Within a week, I was head over heels in love with him. My life and my world changed almost immediately. Love will do that to you.”
“We’re having a formal Christian wedding,” says Bridgette. “Our colors are pink and orange, and our theme is diamonds and pearls.”
Lovebirds Deon and Bridgette are planning to tie the knot in Dallas, Texas in May then jet off to a luxurious all-inclusive resort in Cancun, Mexico.
