Be’Anka, 25, met Dapo, 30, at his housewarming just a few blocks away from her house. As it turns out, true love was just around the corner. They’re getting married next month in San Jose, California. Share their love!
“Dap is Nigerian and I’m Black-American, so the wedding will be a fusion of both our sides in a fun, formal setting,” Be’Anka tells us of their upcoming July wedding day.
Be’Anka’s round-cut diamond engagement ring with a vintage-style setting is totally aww-worthy.
“I love that my future husband is a genuinely good guy and a really good cook,” says Be’Anka.
“I think Dap chose to marry me because he didn’t have any more reasons not to,” Be’Anka reveals. “He knows we’re much better together than we are apart. Why not make it official?”
“My friends love Dap so much, whenever he and I get into a fight, they immediately ask what I did to him,” admits Be’Anka. “So, obviously, they have nothing but good things to say. I’m truly grateful for their support.”
Be’Anka and Dapo’s relationship has been fun-loving from the start.“He once let me host a Chicken and Beer themed Glee premiere party at his house with all of my friends once. He even cooked the chicken. Thanks, babe!”
“Dap said ‘I love you’ first,” Be’Anka shares. “It was on my weekend visit from college. I had stopped him earlier in the week from telling me over the phone because it didn’t feel right. So, when I finally saw him in person, ‘I love you’ was the very first thing he said to me. This is still one of my favorite moments I’ve ever shared with him.”
“We dated five years, three months, eight days and a couple hours before we got engaged,” says Be’Anka. “But who’s counting?”
Be’Anka says it was not quite love at first sight, but it was love nonetheless. “We never imagined this would be so serious,” she admits. “But you really can’t put a price tag on chemistry, and that we have a lot of. We were homies from the start. We’d talk all the time and always had fun hanging out together, so we grew on each other. It was all love!”
