Ready for Love

Landon remembers first meeting Kristen at LAX airport with a group of students who were heading to a Black accountants conference.

“I thought she was really pretty and out of my league,” he recalls.

He asked her to join him for a drink, as they waited for their return flight, and ended up switching their seats to sit by each other.

Kristen has no problem fighting for love to keep her relationship strong.

“Landon’s morals are so high,” she says. “When I was dating that was hard to find. He’s always helping his mom and grandmother. If you can find someone who’s selfless to other people, it’s a great thing.”

After looking all over town, Kristen had her dream dress made, a custom couture gown designed at Baracci in Beverly Hills. She was pleased to hear Beyonce also had dresses made at the boutique.

“I knew he was the one,” she remembers. “It was an emotional roller coaster.”

Landon surprised Kristen in her favorite city of Paris and popped the question.

“I wanted to bring the spirit of Paris to our wedding and incorporated the style in the bridesmaids dresses and the colors and flowers,” she says.

“I felt the prettiest I probably will ever feel,” she remembers.

Kristen came down to the traditional wedding march and was happy to see her hubby-to-be so relaxed.

“I thought he was handsome and happy,” she says. “I was so surprised he was so cool, and wasn’t sweating and breathing heavy, as men sometimes are when getting married. It was a good sign.”

I Do

Landon was touched by his wedding ceremony and marrying his beautiful bride in his grandmother’s catholic church.

“It was very personal to have the minister that baptized me, to marry me and Kristen as our closest friends looked on,” he says.

The Little Things

Two financial pros cut many cost corners. Kristen cut the photo budget by just getting wedding photos, and not engagement ones.

“Everything is negotiable. The band originally quoted us 75 percent higher than what we paid,” Landon said.

Can’t Keep My Eyes Off You

The newlyweds walk from the cathedral to their reception at the Millennium Biltmore. Kristen took Landon’s breath away when she entered the church.

“It was overwhelming, and I was wowed I was marrying her,” he remembers. “That was my first time seeing the dress and it was so Kristen. She’s very ornate.”

The newlyweds make their first stroll as husband and wife at their reception. Spending a year apart early in their relationship, reinforced their bond.

“Being long distance allowed us to move our relationship to a new level,” she remembers. “It enabled us to trust. My friends would tell me how all he could talk about was me when they hung out. I realized what a great guy I had.”

“A band is really good when all generations are having a good time,” she said. “Everyone was dancing and we were happy our family and friends were having such a good time.”

Though a wedding is often considered “her day,” Kristen encourages women to remember the man.

“Don’t let anything material get it between the relationship,” she says. “Listen to your spouse and respect their input.”

Off to Our Sunset

Landon surprised Kristen with their honeymoon plans and booked a trip for a few days in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. He found the flight was only $100 more to add DR to the trip. Once back in Los Angeles, the newlyweds were still in the honeymoon spirit and trekked to Vegas for a few days before going back to work.
