College sweethearts Kia and Jason Miles officially became husband and wife on August 8, 2008, at 8:00 P.M. in Atlanta. All those “eights” were no coincidence.
“Eight turned on its side means infinity and it represents a new beginning,” the bride says. “This day was the beginning of our new chapter and our theme was everlasting love.”

“I loved my dress!” Kia says. “It was exactly what I wanted and I felt so beautiful.”

The entire wedding was paid for by Kia and Jason with cash. The duo budgeted both their incomes and didn’t go on vacations, spend frivolously or buy each other big presents for a year.
“We brought our own snacks into the movies and sacrificed buying each other birthday and Christmas gifts,” Kia says. “It was wonderful to go on our honeymoon with no wedding debt.”

One way to save money for a fabulous wedding is to decide which items you can do yourself. Kia added the faux pearls to all the M’s on the back of the reception chairs, tied lace on her invitations and completed many other projects herself for the special day.
“I became the Black Martha Stewart,” she jokes. “A lot of the things for a wedding you really can do yourself.”

“We budgeted $20,000 for our wedding, but within the first couple months of planning we went over that limit. After that we stopped adding because we didn’t want to know the real number,” Kia adds with a smile.

Kia and Jason allowed their young love to mature into an everlasting romance.
“We were so young when we met, and we made it,” she says. “As long as you are focused and committed to staying together, you can make it work.”
