After 20 years of wedded bliss, Micha and Shawn Woods decided to renew their vows in the city of love.
The couple originally married in Las Vegas on Valentine’s Day 1999. Since they did not have a traditional wedding the first time around, they wanted to recommit in the most magical and memorable way possible. Mission accomplished! Speaking with ESSENCE exclusively, Micha Woods tells us why Paris was the perfect location. “We originally were married in Vegas, the city of lights, and decided to affirm our love in Paris, the city of love. Light and love are affirmations we live by. Our vows were custom written using lyrics from our favorite songs because music is what connects us.”
Paris Photographer Pierre Torset perfectly captured the colorful and effervescent vibe of the Woods’s special day. “The vows and rings we exchanged at the foot of the Eiffel tower in the Trocadero gardens,” Mrs. Woods tells ESSENCE. “Afterwards, we took two Mercedes Benz vans around town for a photoshoot with our family and friends.”
The bride’s look took our breath away. Choosing a unique and fun twist, Micha wore a gorgeous pink two-piece set with multi-layered tulle. The bridesmaids complimented the bride’s look with multicolored tea-length skirts.
The couple tells us that they held their renewal on July 5, 2019 as a nod to the number 5 being their angel number. “This experience will forever live our hearts!”
