“I think I always felt like he could be the one from our first meeting, but I think I really knew that he was ‘The One’ after a few months and being able to see his interactions with his daughter,” says newlywed O’Shea. “I am a daddy’s girl and I fell in love with the way he loved her. I knew he would be an excellent father and I knew that was the kind of man I wanted to have children with.” We hear that!
“Mychael created a fabulous custom dress for me that featured a peplum skirt with a train and the top had a low back cutout,” says O’Shea. “It was fabulous. The fabric that he used had a peacock pattern. I adored it!”
“I immediately fell in love with Lazaro as a designer and knew that I would wear one of his gowns,” says O’Shea. “My mom wanted me to go to other places and try on a few more dresses, and I did it to please her, but I knew in my heart that I loved the Lazaro dress.” O’Shea also had a second dress on hand for her reception party. Smart thinking!
“My wedding shoes were Swarovski crystal encrusted wedge-less heels by one of my favorite shoe designers, Giuseppe Zanotti,” says the bride. Now that’s fierce to the fifth power!
“I wore a beautiful princess ballgown with a sweetheart neckline and intricate detailing and beading on the bodice of the corset area,” says O’Shea. “The dress also had beading going down the back of the tulle skirt too. I was just in love.”
“I love O’Shea’s passion for her family,” says Shawn. “She always puts herself last. I can’t wait until we are blessed with children, because without a doubt, she is going to be an awesome mommy.”
“When Shawn and I first met we were so young, I don’t think that getting married was the first thought on our minds,” says O’Shea. “But I think I can safely say that neither one of us were looking during the time we found it. True love just kind of bumped into us, and the rest is history. It was an amazing feeling to finally love someone like that and be loved the same way in return.”
“When we did decide to get back together, I made it my sole mission to make her mine forever because I simply didn’t trust anybody else to take care of her,” says the groom. Swoon! “Watching her sleep, admiring her as she dances around the house too some of the craziest songs, oh and that cocoa skin, and that smile are all some of the things I love most about her. I couldn’t allow anyone else to have that.”
“I had a tragic event happen just a few months before my wedding day,” O’Shea shares. “My 11-year-old sister passed away in a tragic accident. She was going to be in my wedding and was so excited. The worst feeling was having to pick up the dress that she was going to wear in my wedding from the bridal shop so that we could lay her to rest in it. I incorporated her throughout my entire wedding. She was a girly girl and loved wearing headbands and ribbons, so I took one of her favorite bows that were made out of ribbon and had it sewn into my wedding dress in the shape of a heart next to my heart.”
“All I knew was that I wanted fresh flowers,” says O’Shea. “Nothing artificial; I wanted a lot of them and I wanted them to be beautiful and I left the rest to Andy Beach and he did an amazing job.”
“I wanted to look like a princess in my first dress, and like a real-live holiday Barbie,” says O’Shea. “So, I went for soft curls with the top of my hair pinned up and the rest hanging down on my shoulders with very flirty and girly makeup. My hairstylist, Jason Scott, is also a very close and personal friend and so he was also a guest at my wedding which really came in handy.”
“Even though I dated other men, the only man I ever saw or dreamed of walking down the aisle with was Shawn,” O’Shea admits.
“My bridesmaids wore gowns from TwoBirds,” says O’Shea. “I selected this gown because I had beautiful women of all sizes in my wedding and I wanted them all to look amazing. The dress can be worn over 15 different ways, so I felt we would find a flattering option for all of the ladies in my party, and we did! They looked Amazing!”
“All of the women in my wedding I have known for over eight years or more, which was a requirement for me, and most of them for over 10-15 years,” says the bride. “They were, and still are, all very special to me.”
“He is charming, witty, has the gift of gab and is a hard worker,” says O’Shea. “He is my rock.”
“She’s a lioness,” says Shawn. “Her strength is undeniable. She is one of the smartest people I know.”
“I knew O’Shea was the one the very first day I turned around and spotted her walking past me,” says Shawn. “She literally took the breath right from my chest. You know how there are certain things that knock you off of your feet? She was it!”
“I also did a balloon release for my little sister right before I got ready to enter the building to walk down the aisle,” O’Shea shares. “We released 11 balloons for the 11 years that she was here on earth with us.”
The flower girls carried danty little pomanders down the aisle. So pretty!
The happy couple chose a peacock-inspired décor theme for their special day which began in their beautiful wedding invitations.
“I looked at few places but my heart kept going back to the Greystone at Piedmont Park for our wedding because Shawn proposed at the gazebo,” says O’Shea. “You could see this beautiful building off in the distance not too far away. I finally made my decision to select this venue for sentimental reasons.”
“Q. Parker, solo artist and member of the R&B Group 112, did a cover of Brian McKnight’s ‘More Than Wonderful’ as I walked down the aisle, and it was amazing,” says O’Shea. “My father walked my down and I could not imagine anyone else doing it. I am his little girl.”
“Reverend Mavis Brown officiated my wedding,” says the bride. “She is my family and my sister. I was in her wedding and I felt this would be a perfect way for her to be included in mine.”
“During our ceremony we did charges to the families (parents of both bride and groom) where both families vowed to treat the other individual coming into their family as a blood relative of their own and not an in-law,” O’Shea explains. “We also did the unity of the sands ceremony.”
“It was truly surreal,” says O’Shea. “I kept thinking this is it. We made it to this day. It is happening/ My dreams are coming true and I am marrying the love of my life.”
“I had a fabulous wedding planner,” says O’Shea. “Her name is Eliana Baucicault of ellyB Events and she was great. If you are planning a wedding, and you want a fabulous one, hire her.
“I did most of the planning along with my wedding planner, but I will admit that Shawn was hands on and did help out at times when I needed him,” says the bride.
“She was gorgeous,” says the proud groom. “Everything that I had prayed for was coming together at that moment!”
The bride and groom pucker-up for a kiss as they pose before their whimsical and romantic reception space.
“I planned to have a classic, chic and hip wedding,” says O’Shea. “I wanted a classic old Hollywood feel, with touches of elegance and modern style with just a pinch of an urban socialite feel!”
The new Mrs. Guillory swapped out her ballgown for a sexy vintage look for their reception.
“I did not cry until our first dance when Q. Parker sang a cover of Brian McKnight’s ‘Still In Love,’” says O’Shea.
The bride and groom say that consider their wedding soloist Q. Parker “framily.” “We selected this song because the words mean everything that we always hope our love will forever be,” says O’Shea. “No matter what happens, how seasons may change, through good and bad as the years pass, we want to still remain hopelessly in love with one another.”
The bride shares a moment with her groom’s daughter. “I have the pleasure of getting a bonus daughter,” says O’Shea. “I really dislike the term ‘step’ because there has been such a negative connotation placed on the word at times. I have known her and been in her life since she was six months old and though she is not my blood, I love her and would do anything for her as if she were.”
“The wedding cake table was placed in front of the stone-wall at the end of the dinning area,” says the bride. “The table was a dramatic antique ornate carved oval wood table that had a rich gold finish.” Gorgeous!
The newyweds were glowing at their Old Hollywood themed reception. Too cute!
O’Shea and Shawn’s wedding gave us décorgasms for days. We love their fun and flirty style!
“Because lounges and hookah are something that my girlfriends and I love to do, I insisted that I had a hookah lounge at my wedding,” says O’Shea. “It was fabulous and a lot of my guests really loved it.”
“My wedding to some may have been too much, and to others it simply may not have been enough, but to my groom and I, our wedding was everything,” says O’Shea. “I truly believe that everyone that shared and participated in our day left with a better sense and feel ford my new hubby and I’s closeness and intricate attention to detail and understanding us just a little better, and that was my goal.”
“I felt amazing,” says O’Shea. “It was all that I dreamed it could be and more.”
O’Shea and Shawn were all smiles on their big night, and who could blame them? It was the event of the year!
“We carried our theme throughout our entire wedding from beginning to end by having our favorite things sprinkled throughout the entire day,” says the bride.
“I opted against a videographer for the evening and decided on something called a Social Box, which was such an interesting statement piece at my wedding and it really drew individuals to it because they were curious to know what it was,” says the bride. “This was a great option for us because I didn’t want any of our guests to feel pressured by someone shoving a mic and camera in their faces asking them, ‘Is there anything that you want to say to the bride and groom?’ This option served as a triple win for us.”
“Cigars” for the fellas and photo backdrops galore made for a great party. And, the award for coolest groom’s cake goes too…you guessed it: Shawn!
