Kamilah and Lamar met on the dance floor at a mutual friend’s wedding, and seven years later it was their turn to say “I do.” The lovebirds’ stunning destination wedding in Negril, Jamaica was so spectacular that the photos instantly took our breath away. Share their love!
Kamilah found the perfect place to display her stunning Ines Di Santo gown. “This was the first dress that I saw,” she recalls. “I went to a trunk show where I got to meet the designer and she gave me a personalized sketch of the dress.”
Beautiful bride Kamilah already had a dream team on hand to make her look her very best for the big day. “My two homegirls are the best,” she shares. “Camara Aunique Helps did my makeup and Arminta Cornwall of Elemint Design did my hair. They rock, and they kept me calm, centered and looking fab.”
Kamilah and her lovely bridesmaids prepped for the day’s events with a sweet, intimate and unforgettable girlfriends moment in a beautiful bungalow.
“For my hair I wanted to do something elegant, but beachy, so we settled on a low side bun updo,” says the bride. It was elegance realized.
“My mom wanted to be a part of the dress hunting process, so she flew out to New York City and we took a day and we went around to several bridal salons, but ended right back where we started,” says Kamilah. When it comes to a wedding dress, when you know, you know.
“I wore Stuart Weitzman shoes and I found my veil at BHLDN, which is Anthropologie’s wedding line,” says Kamilah. “I found my jewelry from Rent The Runway.”
Dapper groom alert! Kudos to Lamar for his sharp groom style and chic bowtie. That look is a hit every time.
“Lamar makes me feel at home,” says Kamilah. “He felt like family, and I couldn’t imagine not waking up to him for the rest of my life.”
“Being the bride was a bit overwhelming, as I am used to controlling and orchestrating events, but never when I am the center of attention,” Kamilah admits. She sure was graceful under pressure.
The details on the bride’s Ines Di Santo gown were absolutely divine from head to toe.
We just love it when the bridesmaids glow right alongside the bride. Don’t you? “Their dresses were designed by Amsale,” says Kamilah. “We wanted to find dresses that looked good on everyone, and the blush color just looks so good on brown skin.”
“I actually was not looking for love when we met, but I am sure glad that we found each other,” says Kamilah.
“I knew Kamilah was ‘The One’ many times over the seven years we dated,” says Lamar. “Our years together brought the best out of me. I found an emotional connection and partnership with a person I wanted in my life for a lifetime.”
“Kamilah is a confident, thoughtful and spirited woman,” says proud groom Lamar.
Okay, Kamilah, we need your secret: Your bridal glow was out of this world stunning. Love sure looks great on you!
Lamar and Kamilah’s wedding day portraits look like they belong in a magazine fashon spread. Could this couple be any more photogenic?
“For the groomsman attire we were going for a classic Rat Pack look,” the bride reveals. “The groom absolutely picked that; I wanted beachy grey.”
The newlyweds were all smiles for their romantic “first look” moment before meeting at the altar.
Kamilah’s bouquet style was perfect for a destination wedding. We love it when brides take a non-traditional choice and make it their own.

Kamilah and Lamar tied the knot at the Rockhouse Hotel in Negril, Jamaica. “We traveled to Jamaica a few years prior and happened upon Rockhouse,” says the bride. “While there, we both were standing on the cliff landing area and we looked at each other and both just knew this was the spot that we would exchange vows. It was a very special place for us.”
“My father walked me down the aisle,” Kamilah shares. “I have been a daddy’s girl since day one.”
Kamilah and Lamar incorporated their wedding monogram into all of the romantic details of their wedding day, showing their unity and personal style beautifully.
“Looking into her eyes, I felt like I was staring into her soul,” says Lamar. “I wanted Kamilah’s soul to hear my vows to her.”
“We wanted to craft a very personal and unique ceremony that was a reflection of us and our community and our officiant did just that,” says the bride.
The ceremony opened with a prayer from Kamilah’s grandmother, who could not make the wedding because it was too far for her to travel. “Our closest friends and family played numerous roles in our ceremony,” says the groom. “It was important we integrate our community and support system into celebrating our marriage. Some of our closest friends and our parents were called on to participate.”
Yet another scene that could be right out of a movie. We love the romantic elegance of Lamar and Kamilah’s wedding weekend.

The couple chose this breathtaking waterside cliff to exchange their wedding vows.
An outdoor sit-down dinner reception followed the couple’s storybook seaside ceremony.
The couple chose a fun mashup jam for their big first dance: “It was a mix of John Legend’s ‘All Of Me’ to Beres Hammond’s ‘Feel Good’ and Mavado’s “So Special,’” says Kamilah. “We then took it up a notch to Popcaan’s ‘Only Man She Want’ and ended back at John Legend ‘All of Me.’”
For dessert the couple served a four-tier rum and raisin cake with cascading fondant flowers.
Now that’s how you get down after you say “I do.” We love the his-and-hers moves.
