“I knew he was the one, about four months into the relationship, but I didn’t say it to him,” Jennifer admits. “I wanted to be sure.” Her instincts were spot on. The dreamy guy she met at the airport is now her new husband.
“The theme of the wedding was August Summer Affair, and the big thing of the wedding was my dress because it was lavender and no one really knew,” says Jennifer. “It was a simple, modern cosmopolitan wedding. Our colors were lavender, silver and white.” Her wedding day dress and accessories were designed by Erica Angeline of La Maison De La Bridal.
Jennifer wore a classy birdcage veil and a unique necklace embellished with crystals. We adore her one-of-a-kind bridal style.
The bride chose gold and silver Jimmy Choos for her big day. (An excellent choice, if we do say so.)
The couple’s wedding rings were custom made by Dunwoody Diamonds USA located in Atlanta, Georgia.
“I said yes because he is my best friend, we really enjoy each other and he’s God-fearing, family oriented, communicates very well, handsome and good with numbers,” says Jennifer. What a man!
Could Jennifer’s engagement bling be any more stunning? Um, we think not!
About that necklace…just wow! Would you expect anything less from a stylist?
“I did think I would find true love,” says the bride, “I just wasn’t looking for it; it found me. And, I certainly didn’t think it would be in this way.”
“I chose Jennifer as my wife because she’s my best friend, my ‘Bonnie,’ my ride or die, and she’s really encouraging, loving, caring and gorgeous,” says the groom. Wow, Keith sure knows how to compliment the woman he loves.
Keith chose a bowtie to complete his wedding day style. “I wanted him to wear gray and white and have a very classic but modern look,” says Jennifer. “We went to Kate Donachy of The Modern Gent and started out in gray, but when we decided to change his jacket to white, I knew that was it. After we played around with patterns and colors, we landed on
the purple patterned socks, dotted bow tie and suspenders, sleek pocket square and lavender lapel flower. His shoes were Salvatore Ferragamo. Kate brought our vision to life, he was so clean and very handsome.”
“I chose fresh ivory roses for my bouquet,” says Jennifer. We love an all-white arrangement for a bride. It’s an instant classic!
On her bouquet, Jennifer carried a locket with her dad’s photo inside.
“My husband is a very loving, detailed oriented, hands-on type of guy,” says Jennifer. (And a brother who knows how to wear a tuxedo too!)
“The things I love about my wife is that she treats me like I’m her king and carries herself as my queen,” says Keith.
“My wife is gorgeous, classy, very caring, respectful, motivating, lots of fun, down to earth and a God-fearing woman,” says Keith.
Keith admits that within the first year he knew he’d found a wife in Jennifer. Nothing but bliss followed.
“The thing I love about my husband is he takes care of home,” says Janelle. “He communicates well and he is about his business. He makes sure I am safe and he’s so caring.”
“My husband and I have three children together,” says Jennifer. “I have a daughter and he has a son and daughter. Our children were our wedding party.”
Sweet welcome messages were waiting for the couple’s guests when they arrived for the couple’s wedding weekend.
“Our daughter carried fresh ivory and lavender roses down the aisle,” says Jennifer.
Jennifer’s father passed away a few years ago so her brother walked her down the aisle. “The song I walked down the isle to was Chrisette Michelle ‘A Couple of Forevers’ and my husband had a song as well,” she tells. “He walked in to the instrumental of James Brown ‘This Is A Man’s World,’ and our guests loved it!”
“When I looked into my husband’s eyes, I could see that at that moment he was truly in love and ready,” says Jennifer. “He didn’t take his eyes off of me. It made me melt and know that this is real. I truly love this man.”
“When I looked into my wife’s eyes on that day, I felt so comfortable and it was so right at that moment that I knew this was where I wanted to be,” says Keith.
“My husband and I included a unity candle that we lit with our kids,” Jennifer remembers. “And my cousin who is a minister, prayed over us all.”
“My husband and I did not write our own vows,” explains Jennifer. “The judge who married us, Judge Kimberly E. Adams, is our dear friend and she presented them to us. It was perfect.”
“As we began to walk down the aisle, I began to cry a little,” says Jennifer. “I was hoping I would not do the ‘ugly cry’ and mess up my makeup.”
“The way I felt as a bride was just so surreal,” says Jennifer. “It felt like a dream, like I was outside of myself. I was trying to take it all in because it was going by oh so fast but at the same time it was all so right.”
Jennifer and Keith did have a wedding budget, but they admit that they didn’t quite stick to it because their plans kept changing.
Pharrell’s “Happy” was the perfect song for the newlyweds to make their big entrance to, and they had a blast.
Jennifer and Keith swayed to the lovely sounds of Beyonce’s version of “At Last” for their first dance together as husband and wife.
“When Keith and I started planning, our first idea was to go to the courthouse and have a celebration,” Jennifer admits. “My husband and I decided to change the plans completely after we saw the venue and how beautiful it is. Also, this is the first marriage for both of us and we wanted it to be a special celebration.”
“The reception décor was cosmopolitan modern,” says Jennifer. “We didn’t want the traditional reception, so I had them to add high boys and a lounge area on one side and tables on the other. Our caterers, Christina and Emily of Epicurean Endeavors did an amazing job with making food with the flair we wanted. It was simple but good. We had a mash potato bar which included sides to garnish your potatoes with chives, fried chicken, pulled beef etc., and more. The food was delicious.”
“My husband and I chose a cake place we love and visit frequently for our wedding dessert,” says Jennifer. “Non-traditional again!”
“There was a very special performance by my daughter and her group, LEVI Johnson, a new pop and R&B girl group,” says proud mom Jennifer.
