A new survey reveals that 92-percent of U.S. Single have concerns about dating a smoker.
Smoking is a nasty habit, but it’s often very difficult for smokers to say goodbye to their cigarettes. But, what if your love life depended on it? According to a recent survey conducted by Match.com in partnership with Chantix, a whopping 92-percent of U.S. singles have concerns about dating smoker.
For some daters, smoking is an absolute deal breaker. More than 60 percent of those singles surveyed said they would never date a smoker and eighty-five percent of non-smokers think dating someone who smokes is a “big deal.”
First dates for smokers may prove to be more difficult than ever before. The survey also revealed that a little over half off U.S. singles think it’s more rude to take a smoke break on a first date than it is to check your cell phone and nearly 90-percent of non-smokers do mind kissing a smoker after they’ve had a cigarette.
To overcome this dating roadblock, Match.com and Pfizer are teaming up with We Heart Quitters, a campaign designed to educate Americans about the benefits of quitting smoking and build a community to encourage a smoke-free New Year.
Is smoking a deal breaker for you when dating? Would you be willing to date someone trying to quit if you liked everything else about them? Or worse, have you ever been dumped because you’re a smoker? Let’s discuss.
