When Chandra spotted Carl at a networking event, she wanted to say “Hello,” but instead chose to play it cool. As the evening ended, she thought for sure she’d never see him again, but she was wrong. A few weeks later, a close mutual friend of theirs set them up on a blind date. It was love sweet love and, this fall, the lovebirds plan to tie the knot in Georgia.
“We chose October for our wedding because fall is our favorite season,” Chandra says. “Fall is a time of preparation; the time during which our external environment begins to prepare for what lies ahead.”
“Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve dreamed about walking down the aisle towards my prince,” says Chandra. “I could envision everything about that day except for the face of the man I’d be walking toward. Now that the time has come, it seems unbelievable to me that my dream has come true.”
Chandra and Carl plan to marry at her childhood church than host a reception at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History in Atlanta. “We chose it because the entry to the great hall literally took our breath away,” she says.
“Initially, I felt at ease with her,” Carl says about bride-to-be Chandra. “I could be myself. I was happy I could just talk to her, and I was completely focused on her.”
Chandra and Carl love to spend their free time traveling together and giving back to their communities. “We’ve traveled to Maui, Spain, France, Italy, Argentina, Ireland and lots of fun places in the U.S.,” she reveals. “We love to learn and experience new cultures.”
“We’re both very close with our families,” Chandra insists. “Family is very important to us both. So is staying physically fit, so we have become foodies and we often check out a new workout class together.”
“Since our time together is so precious, we always try to make the most of it,” says Chandra, who recalls how challenging it was for their relationship when Carl got a promotion and had to move out of state only a few months after they first got together.
“I love that he really cares about others,” Chandra boasts. “It really bothers him when others are hurting or in pain.”
“I love that Chandra has strong spirituality,” reveals Carl, when asked about the reasons he chose her to be his wife. “While I’ll admit I don’t share all of her views, she is a woman rooted in God and not afraid to show it, and that’s wonderful!”
After asking her father’s permission for her hand in marriage, Carl popped the question to Chandra at a New Year’s Eve Barbecue.
World travelers Chandra and Carl will embark on a new journey together this fall when they become Mr. and Mrs. Abbott. Leave them some congratulatory love or words of wisdom below.
