After meeting through a mutual friend, Brittney and Marvin fell head over heels for one another. This summer, they’re headed to the altar in Atlanta. Join us as we share their love.
“I immediately felt comfortable with Marvin,” says Brittney. “He has a way of not letting anything become a big deal and he loves to laugh.”
“When it is just the two of us, we spend a lot of time laughing with and at each other,” says the bride-to-be.
“I love Brittney’s fun personality,” Marvin tells us. “She really knows how to have a great time. She can also be very serious and focused on the task at hand, and she won’t hesitate to tell me to ‘get on the ball.’ I also love the way she presents herself when we go out: she is sexy, sophisticated and confident in herself. I call her ‘Claire’ because I found my Claire Huxtable — the quintessential black woman for any eighties baby.”
“I thought Brittney was so cool and down-to-earth,” admits Marvin. “The night I met her, she was drinking beers with her girlfriend and laughing — just having a good time. She has a great personality, and I just wanted to be around her.”
“From our very first date, Marvin always treated me better than any other guy I’d ever dated,” says Brittney.“He always went out of his way to make me feel special. He would tell me all the time how much he really liked me and tried so hard to always make sure he showed it.”
“We’ve always had so much fun with each other no matter what we are doing, and dating him is so easy,” says Brittney. “It just feels like I’m in the type of relationship that sappy Lifetime movies are made about. I used to wonder if other people’s dating experiences are this good.”
The first time Brittney met my entire family was at my uncle’s funeral," says Marvin. “It was an awkward time to meet everyone, but her presence really lightened the mood. She was really supportive and made a great impression on everyone, especially my sisters. It was after this experience that I began to imagine my future with Brittney. Anytime I envisioned myself at family gatherings or experiencing a successful moment, she was there with me.”
“Marvin and I are both currently in school pursuing graduate degrees in software engineering and international business respectively,” says Brittney. “This means that we each have to spend a fair amount of time studying. There were times when it was frustrating not being able to go out and have a good time because one of us was always preparing for a test or project. We overcame this challenge by turning our study time into date nights.”
“We are huge foodies,” admits Brittney. “We love to eat and try new restaurants in Atlanta. When it’s warm outside, we try to do something physical like go for a jog or take the dog to the park.”
“I love Marvin’s laughter because it’s contagious and lets me know he’s having a good time,” says Brittney. “I love it when he asks me how much he loves me, cause the answer is ‘more than anybody loves anybody in the whole wide world.’” Aww!
