There are very few places in the world that still capture the imaginations of travelers like Havana, Cuba. Its old-world architecture and classic vibes pull you in from the moment you arrive and make you feel like you’ve traveled back in time. From writer Ernest Hemingway to the queen herself Beyonce, Havana is at the top of everyone’s list.

Despite our current president making travel to Cuba much more difficult in recent years, Americans are still allowed to visit the fabled Caribbean island. Just note that traveling with a tour group will probably be easier, they will know the regulations and help make the experience seamless. One traveler who has had the pleasure of exploring the island’s vibrant streets is Brina (@with.love.brina), and from the moment she arrived, she says Havana stole her heart.

Welcome to Havana
Located just south of Florida, between the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean, is the island of Cuba. The country’s capital city of Havana is a place where time seemingly stands still and classic cars and retro architecture reign supreme. In recent months there has been some confusion over whether or not travelers can still visit the island, and the answer is YES! Visit from December to May for sunny skies, just make sure you carry all the cash you’ll need for your trip since Americans are still not allowed to use debit or credit cards in the country.

Classic Homes
The best part about visiting Havana is that you’re able to get a truly authentic experience when it comes to accommodations. There still aren’t many major hotels on the island so booking an Airbnb with a Cuban family is the way to go. Not only will you be able to get insider tips on things to do, you’ll literally be in the heart of the city.

Havana Nights
It has been said that American journalist and novelist Ernest Hemingway loved Cuba. In fact, as you stroll Havana’s streets looking for somewhere to indulge in delicious Cuban cuisine, chances are you’ll run into one of his favorite spots, El Floridita. Grab a seat at the bar and enjoy some live music with your daiquari, just like Hemingway.

Cultural Moments
Cuba is more than classic cars and buildings, it also has a rich history that many people tend to overlook. Head to the Museum of Revolution to take a deeper look at Cuban culture. Bonus? It costs just $8 to visit.
