Getting your Trinity Audio player ready…

Let some people tell it, the minute you get pregnant your ability to explore the world immediately comes to an end. Wrong! Being with child doesn’t diminish your love of travel, it only enhances it by giving you the ability to see the world through new eyes.

Taking a babymoon is the perfect way to spend some quality time with bae, and indirectly give the baby his or her’s first passport stamp. For parents to be Ijeoma and Jonathan Kola, they wanted their last baecation as a party of two to be a special one, so they chose the stunning coastal town of Watamu, Kenya for their babymoon.

From Ijeoma’s perfect momma-to-be glow by the pool to the duo gushing about their first baecation six years ago, this babymoon was a feel-good moment we didn’t even know we needed. Check out a few photos from the couple’s Kenyan escape and be inspired to plan a romantic babymoon of your own.

Welcome to Watamu, Kenya
A small coastal town north of Mombasa, Watamu is not a destination on many travelers’ radar, but for locals and those in the know, it is the perfect hidden gem. Full of bustling markets, sandy white beaches, natural mangroves, and wildlife, there’s no shortage of activities for visitors to enjoy. Visit July through October during the dry season to soak up the sun.

Traditional Eats
The best part about being a bit off the tourist path in Watamu is that you’ll find more options for traditional Kenyan eats. Don’t leave without tantalizing your tastebuds with local dishes like Nyama choma, Swahili for roast meat.

Whether you’re on a baecation or a babymoon, Watamu has gorgeous accommodations that are built for romance. Try the Charming Lonno Lodge Watamu for stunning views, great food, and relaxing villas.
