ESSENCE has teamed up with American Cancer Society (ACS), Pfizer and Tia Mowry to create a powerful video spotlighting the inspiring story of Ebonie and her breast cancer journey.
For Ebonie, the kitchen has always been a place of love and legacy, where cooking holiday meals with her mom and sister created cherished memories. As Ebonie and Tia cook and connect, she reflects on losing her mom to breast cancer on Christmas morning, dealing with her own breast cancer diagnosis years later, and how she’s found the strength to advocate for herself and be open with her kids about her experiences.
The video is a part of a new series for the Change the Odds™ initiative, which aims to improve health outcomes in underserved communities across the United States by enhancing awareness of and access to cancer screenings, clinical trial opportunities, and patient support and comprehensive navigation. Check out more of Ebonie’s story and others in the series, and find cancer screening information and other resources from ACS: cancer.org/changetheodds.
This video is for U.S. residents only and is intended to be viewed as it was originally produced by Pfizer and Essence.
