One of the first big decisions you’ll make as a couple is deciding where you will call “home.”  Whether you rent or buy, your first home together is a reflection of you and your partner’s blended aesthetics as well as a place that you can call your own. Decorating your first home together can be a seamless process, if you keep both parties’ tastes in mind. Make sure to add photographs that incorporate the ones you love. Mix up the frames to play on you and your husband’s style tastes.

Your home should reflect you and your husband. Combine your favorite art pieces to a small gallery wall. Fresh flowers near the art are a way to draw the add and a little more color to your new home.

The biggest fights will come on large pieces of furniture. If you can find a common decor trend you like such as dark wood or tufting, you can then pick colors and fabrics that compliment you and your husband’s unique styles.

You may still love floral prints but your husband is not likely to. With that said, you can push him by adding textured fabrics and color to your home to accent a manlier piece of furniture.

Pick a few of your favorite pieces; it can be candle sticks, books, magazines or even college memorabilia. Incorporate your personality through coffee table design. This is an area where a couple can have fun and learn more about yourselves.

Outdoor entertaining is king in the South. You can add some unique pieces even on a small patio in a high rise. Mix of styles to add depth to your new home. This is also a great hideaway for the two of you to relax after a long day. 

 

Now that you are married you will likely want host guests as a new couple. A great way to do that with style is by setting your dinner table.  You can mix and match styles by adding a darker colored napkin versus a floral print tablecloth. It makes a bold statement and a chic place for you to celebrate your newly formed family. 

 

Partying doesn’t have to end when you get married. Keep the vibes going and infuse your decor with some of your best entertaining dishes.. A bar cart isn’t complete without nice coasters, glassware and a champagne bucket. This is one area of decorating you can enjoy as a new couple.

Many young couples opt out of a formal dining table but it doesn’t mean you can’t set a table. Add your everyday tableware to your table with a floral arrangement and you will have a styled casual table that even a mother-in-law will love. 

You spent a lot of money on wedding photography, show it off with wedding gallery. Incorporate a bold statement piece and even your broom for a unique area that will remind you of your special day. 

 

Whether you have a large patio or front porch, outdoor decor is an essential element for newlywed decor. Use some of your pre-existing pieces and bring them outside, especially if you have a large space. It is a great way to save money and incorporate pieces you owned before you moved in together.
