Journalist Charlayne Hunter-Gault shares her vision of where the Civil Rights Movement is destined to go next:

“Each generation must discover its own mission. No one who got involved with the movement did so to become famous. You may never be famous like Martin Luther King, Jr., or Rosa Parks, but you may do something equally as great. President Obama said at the NAACP Centennial in 2009, “I stand here on the shoulders of giants.” The giants of today are the younger generation. They have to be strong enough to bear the weight of those who will stand on their shoulders and make a difference. That’s what the movement was about; that’s the lesson that has been passed on.”
