Don’t Pull Too Tight

Do not pull hair too tight when putting it into a ponytail or an updo, avoid rubber bands. “Different hair types require different care,” says Williams. “The hair around the hairline should be treated with extra nurturing”

Get Them Smooth Before Applying Gel

Hair can be pulled back while wet or dry. If hair is relaxed, it may be easier to pull hair back dry. For natural hair, it may be easier to pull back wet. The edges of natural hair can be straightened with a blow dryer before applying the edge gel.

Apply edge gel to hair with fingers or soft brush. “The way you comb the hair can contribute to breakage,” says Williams. “Comb and handle hair gently while pulling it up”
