If your hair tangles easily, you may want to pre-poo first. To do this, just add an oil or conditioner to your hair and allow it to sit for about 15 minutes. Then proceed to shampoo. I promise your mane won’t feel as dry and striped at the end.

Wash your hair in four sections to keep the number of knots and tangles to a minimum and enable you to reach each strand easier. Gently massage the shampoo into the roots of your hair and allow it to fall down the hair strands catching any dirt, oil or product build up.

Be gentle with your hair as you shampoo. Don’t toss your hair to and fro (no pun intended), scrubbing it in a ball. You should keep your hair stretched in a downward motion as you shampoo-carefully, stroking the dirt from your strands.

Don’t forget about your scalp. Use the balls of your fingers (not your nails) to massage your scalp to remove any dirt or oil.

I recommend deep conditioning your hair after shampooing. Every time. You need to replenish the moisture that was lost. Also, do not use extremely hot or cold water—wash your hair with lukewarm water to remove dirt and rinse with a cooler temperature.
