At ESSENCE, we’re all about supporting Black-owned businesses founded by women and this brand is doing big things in the beauty world. The Doux (pronounced “do” as in hairdo) is making a splash both on social media and in the community due to their hip-hop themed pro-styling products.

Created by celebrity hairstylist Maya Smith, the line caters to textured and curly hair. The renowned hairstylist is passionate about the preservation of natural curls and created The Doux in an effort to help others learn how to care for their precious ‘dos.

With its bold packaging and product names inspired by ’90s hip-hop and culture — think Bonita Afro Balm and Mousse Def — it’s not hard to see why The Doux has attracted so much love on social media.

Aside from being aesthetically popping, the brand received rave reviews on their products that keep curls hydrated  and bouncy. If you’re not able to get your curls treated at The Doux salon in Macon, Georgia don’t fret! You can find their complete line of products at your local Target and on Target.com.
