My Selfie Journey: Patrice Renée

When Patrice grew tired of her hair stinging every 6-8 weeks from relaxers she decided to cut it all off and be natural. Now, she’s embracing her own style and is constantly evolving into a better woman.

Meet Patrice

My hair is… natural.

I started my hair journey…in the Spring of 2010. I had been contemplating the transition to natural hair for about two weeks when I met a woman in Whole Foods who had natural hair. I walked up to her, complemented her on her beautiful natural tresses and we instantly became curlfriends. I did the big chop that day as soon as I got home!

My current hair regimen includes…deep conditioning my tresses with Aussie Conditioner once a week, sleeping on a satin pillowcase, detangling with my tangle teaser brush, applying a dime size amount of Mizani Thermasmooth Smooth Guard Serum to each section of my hair, using coconut oil and ASIAM curling cream.

My favorite hair products include… ASIAM Curling Cream and Virgin Coconut Oil.

The secret to having healthy hair is… by no means [having] one specific regimen. I truly believe that your regimen depends on what works for YOUR hair. The more you experiment with different products, the better your specific regimen will suit your hair needs. away from heat.

My biggest hair challenge is… not comparing my hair to others. There are so many beautiful women with different textures of hair and sometimes you just get caught up with color, length, and what seems like versatility of styles and textures on someone else.

I love my hair because…no one else has the same exact hair texture that I have. I’m also not afraid of changing up my look. I’ve experimented with my hair so much I feel like I can tell what it’s going to do with certain products I put it in.

My hair crush is… a young woman I follow on Instagram René Daniella @ownbyfemme.
