Every weekend as I’m scrolling through my feed and Insta-stalking the celebrities and influencers that I fangirl for, I come across something interesting and inspiring in the beauty space. From jaw-dropping transformations to drool-inducing hair, there’s always something that I can’t stop staring at or watching, and it instantly garners a double-tap.

A few weeks ago I was mesmerized by an intricate baby hair design embellished with small pearls. It was cool and creative and in line with the exaggerated baby hair trend we saw on the runways this past September. It made me want to grow out my edges just so that I could get them laid.

Article continues after video.

This past weekend I stumbled upon another pearl design that made me want to run to the hairdresser immediately. This one, brought to us by UK-based hairstylist Michelle Thompson (@michellethompsonhair), combines the exaggerated baby hair trend with the recent pearl trend, and throwback fingerwaves. It gives Josephine Baker meets Missy Elliot meets Janelle Monae vibes. The classic look is both updated and retro at the same time. It’s simply exquisite. And the edges are laid.

In a recent interview with Hairdressers Journal in London, the skilled stylist from Francesco Group’s Birmingham Salon & Academy shared her six all-time favorite wearable art hair designs. It’s very clear from the story, and the beauty’s Instagram page, that Thompson is quite the architect when it comes to tresses. And while this gorgeous fingerwave didn’t make it onto her short list, it remains a favorite of mine, and one that I want to mimic.
