Adepero Oduye hit the red carpet at the Oscars with a regal crown that was impossible to miss. The twisted updo, created by celebrity hairstylist Larry Sims, was without question one of our favorites from the evening. To help us re-create this style (with ease) anytime, Sims shared his technique in creating the look.

First, Sims started with applying smooth Smooth ‘N Shine Instant Edge Smoothing Pomade throughout the hair and hairline for a sleek silhouette. Next, to create a ponytail at the crown, Sims left the very top portion out and loose. Next, he created a double strand twist from the left to right of the crown. Sims under twisted the remaining hair and and repeat three times in a crowned updo.
Finally, he completed the look by applying Smooth ‘N Shine Polishing Instant Repair Spray-On Polisher for a smooth finish.
