Day one at the Convention Center in New Orleans set the tone, and the fits did not disappoint. Soft floral prints, distressed denim shorts, and cowboy hats ruled the scene. This year’s ESSENCE Festival of Culture brought out crowds dressed in bold colors and vibrant prints, reminding everyone that Black joy and fashion always go hand in hand.
Between shopping sprees at SOKO MRKT, catching their favorite artist’s set at the Superdome, or soaking up gems at the panels, festivalgoers turned the Convention Center into a runway for all ages. Crews of friends showed out in curve-hugging jumpsuits, flowy maxi dresses, bold earrings, and vintage concert tees honoring the late greats. Some danced their way through the day in sharp blazers and chic matching sets, while others kept it sporty in fitted caps, cropped tanks, and sneakers built for festival comfort. The accessories game was on point too: oversized hoops, artsy dangle earrings, and even heart-shaped purses added that extra dose of personality to the outfits spotted in the crowd.
