Top Ways to Increase Your Hair Length While Transitioning

Chopping off your hair can be pretty scary. As I transitioned, my big chop date was constantly in the back of my mind. Even though I planned to transition for 2 years and knew my hair would be longer than TWA length, it was still unsettling to know my hair would be significantly shorter than it’s current length. Most women are anxious and stress about the big chop; finding ways to increase growth as you transition can relieve some of your big chop anxiety. Here are a few tips.

01
Be Gentle

Please be gentle with you hair. Transitioning hair is more prone to breakage. Treat your hair as if it were a fine, delicate silk. This will prevent unnecessary breakage.

Take a Multi-Vitamin

Multi-vitamins containing biotin can significantly increase hair growth. I’ve even heard of women who are not preggers taking prenatal vitamins and yielding excellent results as well.

Massage Your Scalp

This increases the blood flow to your scalp, in turn accelerating hair growth. Easy enough, right?

Moisturize and Seal Your Hair Daily

The biggest mistake some naturals make is only moisturizing their hair once or twice a week when their hair needs to be replenished with moisture much more often. Try it as often as your hair needs it.

Drink Water

Maintain a healthy diet and drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. I know that’s a lot, but you will see a major change in your hair, skin and nails.

I know growth is at the forefront of your mind, but if you incorporate these techniques, there is a chance you can help your hair grow faster. Be consistent and precise. And don’t obsess about length! Good luck.
