My Selfie Journey: Ashley Odom

Ashley was always known as the girl with long, thick hair. But as she grew older she felt she needed something different. She finally made the decision to be natural. “Going natural was one of the best decisions that I have ever made, back to the way God intended.”

My hair is...natural.

I started my hair 2008 by transitioning for eight months. I finally big chopped on September 18, 2008.

My current hair regimen includes: shampooing or cowashing with CoCo Curls every two weeks, detangling and typically two strand twisting my hair with CoCo Curls Moisturizing and Styling Creme. To maintain my signature style (twistout), I wear a satin bonnet at night and spritz my hair with water daily, retwisting at night as needed.

My favorite hair products include: CoCo Curls Moisturizing and Styling Creme, Shea butter and coconut oil.

The secret to having healthy hair is...keeping it moisturized, preventing heat damage and keeping your ends clipped.

My biggest hair challenge is...dealing with the thickness of my hair. It usually requires me to spend more time and care with hair, but the end result is completely worth it.

I love my hair gives me amazing versatility and I love being able to wear it in so many diverse styles.

My hair crush is... @MoKnowsHair for her fab color and styles and @MsDanti for her versatility, especially with a tapered cut.
