A young Michael Jackson captured the hearts of many when he burst onto the scene in the late 1960’s. Here he is in 1971 looking quite comfortable in his smooth caramel skin.

That boyish grin stole the hearts of droves of teenage girls back in 1976. Sporting an Afro that would make Angela Davis jealous, the dancing machine’s cocoa-brown complexion is still in tact. His nose is questionably more narrow than in previous years.

The 1970’s came and went and the 1980’s ushered in a new set of trends. And Jackson helped to set them. He lost the signature Afro for a fresh Jheri Curl and traded in his broad nose for a much more sculpted one.

Man in the Mirror
By the early 1990’s, Jackson’s skin was a pasty white color. Reportedly the performer suffered from a rare skin condition called vitiligo. The groundbreaker looked increasingly less like the adorable little boy who commanded our hearts almost 30 years earlier.

Nervous in Neverland
With an almost ghost-like appearance, Jackson caused many fans to worry about his health and well-being. There were even rumors that he was wearing a prosthetic nose as a result of all the surgeries.

Evolution of a Man
In this picture taken just two years ago, we see just how much our beloved Michael has transformed since the days of dancing onstage with his big bros in matching polyester outfits. Whether his skin was brown or white, hair straight or kinky, nose broad or narrow; he was undeniably always a star.
